A 25 minute slideshow on the work Books for Kids Africa does in Mozambique is available free upon request by contacting info@booksforkidsafrica.org. The slide show briefly describes a typical child’s life in a small village and the difference access to books and a library can make, along with details about the work Books for Kids Africa is doing in Mozambique in each of its three programs: Community Lending Libraries, Mobile School Libraries, and Women’s Literacy Clubs.

• Buy a Book!

Visit the website www.excusemebooks.com (click on the picture here!) and order a book(s). A portion of each book’s sale goes toward putting more books into community and libraries in Mozambique.

• Enlist your organization to buy/sell books!

Consider enlisting your organization or classroom to sell Excuse Me, I’m Trying to Read to raise money for community and school libraries in Mozambique.

• Invite Books for Kids Africa to your school or organization

Mary Jo Amani, director of Books for Kids Africa, is available to visit your school or organization to promote fundraising efforts, to give a book reading, and share reading activities with elementary school children. Contact info@booksforkidsafrica.org to arrange a visit. Mary Jo is only in the U.S. part-time. Her next visit is programmed for early October/November 2011 in North Carolina.
